02) The Causeway to Lindisfarne

Two very different paintings of the causeway leading to Lindisfarne. The first is an ‘En plein air’ study completed at low tide. The second study attempts to evoke the sense of space and loneliness under an expansive sky. This second piece is more expressive and brooding but captures something of the menacing power of the rising tide and the glassy wetness of the mud stretching into the distance.
