Experiments with printing techniques.
Recently I’ve been experimenting with various printing techniques including lino traditional etching and wood block printing. I particularly like the immediacy of drypoint etching. Drypoint etching is so like ordinary drawing except that it forces you to think more about the mark making process. The metal plate pulls the burin unlike paper and this adds a refreshing and enjoyable unpredictability. Another technique which I have recently discovered in the Technique of Japanese Woodcut printing. This technique involves cutting lines and shapes into a wooden block with a knife and using very simple hand printing techniques to create beautiful full colour prints.
