In Apple Day i’ve tried to capture a sense of the familiar cycle of the seasons and reflect on the traditions and knowledge that is gradually being lost. Here Chris Bird an extremely knowledgable horticulturalist surveys the latest crop of Apples from across hampshire. Many of them rare and dying breeds. Apple Day occurs in September each year and is a day when all the apples collected in this years harvest can be sorted and rare varieties tasted.
